I absolutely loved photographing this session. If you follow me on Instagram, you may have noticed I use the hashtag #mustlovedogs quite often. Well, this certainly took it to a whole other level. Jeanine and Jesse were celebrating their anniversary in Morro Bay and wanted to have some photos taken of themselves with their three beautiful dogs. Each dog had a sweet rescue story, and an adorable dog personality that kept us laughing the entire session. Being a huge lover of dogs and photographing beautiful people in love, I had a blast! Padre Hotel Anniversary Session for Sherry and Coya

Sherry and Coya recently celebrated one year of marriage. Their wedding took place at the Padre Hotel in Bakersfield, and from their description, it sounded like it was an amazing day! These photos were not only a way to document their love story, but a way to commemorate their time in Bakersfield, as they move on to new adventures together. I had such a great time on this shoot. It was full of laughter, love and great stories. I don’t do anniversary sessions nearly enough! They warm my heart and remind me how special this job truly is. Here are some of my favorites:

Danay & Matt’s New Home, Bakersfield Photographer

I am so excited to share this session with you all. This is certainly one of the most unique shoots I have had the honor of shooting as a Bakersfield photographer. Danay and Matt were so excited about building their new home, and wanted to commemorate it in some way. Danay came to me with this idea of shooting in the house frame! Although we shot it several months ago, we decided to wait to share it until keys were in hand. Danay and Matt are now moving into their first home together this week, and I am so happy for them!

The Billings Family

One of my favorite ways to capture families is through lifestyle sessions in their own element, and for the Billings family we did just that. These beautiful people welcomed me into their lovely home for some portraits that truly captured who they are. After we capture that classic portrait with cheese, and smiles, and everyone look at me… we can begin to have some fun. If you have been following my work, you might have noticed that the perfect portrait is rarely my favorite photo. I love the photos that freeze a moment, show something real, tell a story, or captured someone’s personality perfectly. Lucky for me, these types of energetic, creative and wonderful people keep asking me to take their photos. So, I get to capture a lot of my favorite kinds of pictures. The Davis Family

Last week I had the honor of shooting some family portraits for fellow photographer Ashly Layne. It can make a photographer pretty nervous shooting for another photographer. Then again, for me, excitement always beats out nerves; and look at this family! Just look at them! Needless to say, I was pretty excited I had access to her private collection of models. These people are beautiful. Ashly has tons of adorable photos of her children. However, I was super happy to help her capture all six of her family members together, as well as some special moments to depict her life as a mother. It was a joy to photograph these dear hearts, and I am pretty sure the last photograph will resonate with a lot of mothers out there!

Anastasia & Ben : Santa Monica Pier

The Enns Family

In a way, this shoot was over a year in the making. When we first moved into our house a little less than 2 years ago, I saw this family in our neighborhood out for a walk. I hope it’s a photographer thing, but it could just very well be that I alone have a staring problem. The two boys and their parents created this perfect mix of adorable and cool. Brad saw me staring. “You want to photograph them don’t you?” “Yes.” I said, “They are so cute, like a family out of a magazine. Would it be weird to ask them?” We agreed (I reluctantly) that yes it would be, and although we said hello to this cute family, I was not to chase them down the street and set up a photo shoot. Now in hindsight, I think, why not? Being a photographer is like being a talent scout, and you should always chase down a photo if you see one. Luckily for me… I randomly met Cortnie at a workout class this summer. I didn’t realize it until we headed home after class and drove right into the same neighborhood that she is the mom of the cute family! After a while, as we chatted more about work, life etc, I did finally ask if I could photograph them.

Sometimes we take picture and sometimes we produce pixels that come together in a way that fills our hearts with pure joy. I know that may seem like a bit of an exaggeration, but that’s how I feel about these images. These photographs are really very simple. They are not your traditional family portrait, but it makes me so happy to capture the true dynamic of a family. Especially a family this radiant. The boys, Augie and Liam, are absolutely adorable. I’m pretty sure every time I look at their photographs, or even just their mom’s amazing Instagrams of them, my heart starts glowing like ET. Cortnie and Gary are like characters out of an indie movie. The kind of people that are too good looking, but also too cool, to exist in real life. Well, guess what, here is proof that they do. So thank you so much to the Enns family! It was so much fun for me to come to your home and document these moments in your life.

The Brauer’s Vintage Baby Shower

Angie and Travis are expecting a new addition to their family! They were given the most adorable baby shower I have ever seen! Seriously, ever. Based around the theme B is for Boy, the shower took place at the Woolworth’s Diner at the Five and Dime Antique Mall. The tables were decorated with vintage toys, gum ball machines and nostalgic games. Big sister even dressed up as the cutest little 50’s girl! Down to the last detail, it could not have been a more special baby shower. This family is truly loved, and everyone was very excited to play a part in welcoming the new addition, baby Maxwell.

Jon, Kim and baby Juliana : Family Portraits

Weylin {One Year Family Portraits)

Weylin is one! I am so excited to be photographing this little cutie again. It’s hard to believe how quickly they grow up.
