This wedding is very dear to my heart because it was for family. I was so honored to be asked to photograph Manuel (my uncle) and Shawna’s Lacey WA wedding. It was a homespun celebration full of family and DIY details. The wedding took place at Faith Assembly of Lacey, the church Shawna and her family grew up attending. Manuel is in a knitting group. I think the most memorable and impressive detail of the day is the bride’s veil that was custom made by him. His “groomspeople” consisted of his son and his knitting group friends. Shawna’s bridal party was made up of family. Their was so much joy surrounding Manuel and Shawna by all in attendance. When family and friends live far away, it’s easy to keep tabs on them in social media and feel like you know what is happening in their lives. Yet, if I had experienced this special day from in front of a computer screen, it would not even compare to the love I felt experiencing in person from behind a lens. It was so wonderful to meet Shawna, her sweet family, and see first hand just how happy she makes my uncle. Below are some of my favorite images from the day. AND – if you are experiencing this wedding from a computer screen for the first time, I hope I did it justice in capturing the happiness. xoxo!

the work it took to make this a success was absolutely worth every stitch, every swipe of frosting, and even the stress (my teeth are still chattering!)
such fun it will be to look at these pictures, and remembering the precious memories of their wedding!
